Chapter Placed Under Alumni Supervisory Committee Control

The Phi Kappa Psi Executive Council has placed the LSU Chapter under the control of an alumni supervisory committee. At its October 30th meeting, the council found the chapter responsible for violating the Fraternity’s risk management policies and voiced concern that the chapter has had two violations during the past twelve months.

The supervisory committee will consist of four members: Dave Normand LSU ’85, Tim White LSU ‘87; Mark Phillips LSU ’94 and Dan Cook LSU ’99.

Tim White to Serve as Financial Counselor

Tim White LSU ’97 has agreed to serve as the chapter’s financial counselor on the alumni advisory committee. In this new position, Tim will counsel the chapter treasurer and finance committee. Professionally, Tim is the owner of Personal Credit Plan, a financial services company in Baton Rouge.

Mark Phillips Helps Implement Pledge Education Program

Mark Phillips LSU ’94, is supervising the chapter’s implementation of Phi Psi’s national pledge education program this fall. The six-week program is designed to educate Phi Psi pledges on Fraternity and University history as well as teach pledges how the Fraternity is operated so that they can become life-long contributing members. Mark began serving as the chapter’s fraternity education counselor in early 2010.

Professionally, Mark is an auditor for the Louisiana Tax Commission.

Phi Psi Recruits 4th Largest Pledge Class

Phi Psi’s 40-man fall pledge class was the 4th largest out of 24 LSU fraternity pledge classes. Chapter members began planning in January and implemented an enthusiastic and pro-Greek program, assisted by the parents club and Phi Psi alumni from both LSU and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Two LSU Phi Psi’s Enter The Order of the S.C.

Dave Normand LSU ’85 and Brian Madaci LSU ’97 were inducted into The Order of the S.C. at Phi Kappa Psi’s 2010 Grand Arch Council meeting in Orlando, FL. Dave and Brian join previous LSU Chapter inductees, Dave Hull LSU ’66 and Buster Lyons LSU ’90.

The Order of the S.C. recognizes Phi Psi’s most loyal alumni. It is a secret organization within the Fraternity whose initiates must have attended at least seven biennial conventions. Members of the Order wear a special badge of recognition and honor and hold a special dinner and initiation at each Grand Arch Council.

LSU Chapter Wins GAC Academic Award

The LSU Chapter won the Most Improved GPA Award at the Fraternity’s 2010 Grand Arch Council (GAC) in Orlando, FL. The award honors the Phi Kappa Psi chapter that shows the most improved grades over the past two years. Over 100 chapters compete for the award.
