Phi Psi and DZ Place Second in Songfest

Continuing its long history of success in LSU’s Songfest Competition, Phi Psi, teamed with Delta Zeta, placed second in the 2014 competition.

In the spirit of competition, the LSU’s Greeks have been holding Songfest for 90 years. Songfest originally began as a men’s singing competition. Phi Psi Wins Songest

Teamed with Kappa Delta & Theta Chi, Phi Psi placed first in LSU’s 2013 Songfest competition.

Fraternity and Sorority chapters were randomly paired to create ensemble groups. Each group performed a choreographed dance routine for five judges. The judges’ scores were combined with three bonus point opportunities: t-shirt sales, ticket sales and a banner competition. The highest point total determines the winner.

The Great Joy of Serving Others

Few brothers personify Phi Kappa Psi’s motto, “The Great Joy of Serving Others,” more than E. Wade Shows LSU ’69 #46. In 1991 Wade led the Louisiana Alpha house corporation’s effort to purchase the AZD house on LSU’s sorority row. Afterwards he served as the house corporation president for twenty years, helping hundreds of brothers benefit from the life-long friendships and learning that come through the fraternal living experience. Today the Phi Psi house is one of the premier fraternity properties at LSU.

Honor Wade’s example of serving others by volunteering to work with our undergraduate brothers. The LSU chapter needs the following:

  • Alumni to assist with fall recruitment. (Visit our Big Tent site for dates and contact info.)
  • House corporation members (vp, treasurer, secretary)
  • Accountants
  • Assistant fraternity education advisors
  • Alumni relations advisor
  • Mentoring program coordinator
  • Homecoming coordinator
  • Founders Day coordinator
  • Scholarship advisor
  • Recruitment advisor

Phi Psi’s 3.009 Spring 2012 GPA ranked it 4th out of LSU’s 23 fraternities. The chapter’s academic performance was an impressive improvement over its respectable 8th place ranking in Spring 2011. Psi Psi bested both the all-men’s (2.812) and the all-fraternity (2.914) averages.
