Over 600 LSU Phi Psi Initiates and Growing

30 New Phi Psi brothers were initiated this evening during a formal ceremony at the chapter house. This brings the chapters’ total number of initates to 613. More details do come.

Alumni Crawfish Boil a Big Suck-cess

800 pounds of crawfish were consumed at the annual spring alumni crawfish boil. It was well attended by Phi Psi parents and alumni, including those listed below. Afterwards, alumni and their Phi Psi Ladies gathered at The Chimes to tell exaggerated tales of their college exploits.

2011 Founder’s Day Phestivities

The South Central Louisiana Alumni Association (SCLAA) proud to sponsor 2011 Founder’s Day phestivities, celebrating 159 years of service and excellence.
All Phi Psis and Phi Psi Ladies Welcome ! You do NOT have to be a member of the SCLAA to attend.

  • When: February 19, 2011
  • Where: Abacus Restaurant, 530 W Pinhook Rd, Lafayette, LA
  • Time: 12pm cash bar, 1:30 buffet style meal
  • Guest Speaker: Kevin Marks, Phi Kappa Psi’s director of alumni services

Doug Bocock to Serve as Recruitment Counselor

Doug Bocock (LSU '04)

Doug Bocock LSU ’04 has agreed to serve as the chapter’s recruitment counselor on the alumni advisory committee. In this new position, Doug will help the chapter coordinate recruitment activities that are in compliance with fraternity and university policies.

Doug will attend the January 2011 Phi Phi’s Recruitment Boot Camp in Indianapolis as a facilitator with undergraduate members of the chapter. Professionally, Doug is the sales manager of the Garcia Roofing and Sheet Metal new construction division.

Fall 2010 Grades

The chapter lost ground from its #5 spring 2010 ranking, slipping to #15 out of the 24 fraternities on LSU’s campus with a 2.734 fall 2010 chapter GPA. Phi Psi’s pledges averaged 2.639, just above the all-LSU-pledges average of 2.619. Actives averaged 2.859, just below the all-LSU-actives average of 2.896.

Phi Psi Honored for Community Service

LSU’s Phi Kappa Psi chapter received 2010 Power of 9 Honors for its work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Sponsored by the Capital Area United Way, WAFB-TV Channel 9, and Capital One Bank, the Power of 9 Honors celebrates the spirit of volunteerism and puts the spotlight on the people in our community who give freely of their time and energy to help organizations meet their missions.

Dan Cook to Serve as Risk Management Counselor

Dan Cook LSU ’99 has agreed to serve as the chapter’s risk management counselor on the alumni advisory committee. Dan will work with the risk management committee and chapter leadership to help them comply with University and Fraternity policies, including those related to alcohol and hazing. Professionally, Dan is an outside sales representative at Sunbelt Rentals.
